Chase

This is a multi-verse haiku I wrote for a poem competition run by the school library in 2014. Uploading this as an example of poetry for my commission info.

Running through the trees

They pursued us rapidly

Crashing through the plants

Then we reached the end

Of the ground, we turned around

And saw them coming

Trusting in him with

My very life, together

Down the cliff we jump

Ground rising up fast,

The fall is terrifying

Though I will be caught

Wings appear below

The enormous winged lizard

Halted my plummet

After us, they cried

“You have sided with them now,

You will be hunted.”

Knowing they were right,

Away through the sky we soared

For ever alone
